India’s leading EV solutions provider Tata Power has announced to set up 25,000 electric vehicle charging points across India in the coming five years in a bid to support faster adoption of e-mobility. The announcement came while the company showcased its wide range of hi-tech EV charging solutions at the Auto Expo 2023 in Greater Noida.

“The demand for electric vehicles is steadily increasing in India therefore it is important to have a robust pan-India charging network,” Virendra Goyal, head-business development – EV charging at Tata Power, said. “We remain committed to playing a prominent role in helping Indian consumers consider sustainable mobility in the future.”

While not much has been disclosed at this point, the company said that it currently provides over 3600 public/semi-public chargers and more than 23500 residential chargers in over 450 Indian cities. Apart from its strong network in Delhi-NCR, Tata Power’s EV charging network spreads extensively, in Mumbai, Goa, Surat, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Pune, and Bengaluru, amongst several other cities.

Many Tata Power charging stations are equipped with fast charging technology. Moreover, several of the company’s stations are located at various strategic locations, like malls, hotels, airports, and office complexes.

The company added that its EV charging initiatives are in line with the government’s National Electric Mobility Mission Plan. The NEMMP provides the vision and the roadmap for the faster adoption of electric vehicles and their manufacturing in the country, according to a PIB release.
