Audi is gearing up for a major electrification showcase of the Audi Q6L e-tron at the upcoming Auto China 2024, scheduled for April 24 to May 4 in Beijing. The three confirmed models that will be revealed are the Q6L e-tron, the Q5 e-tron RS edition, and the SQ6.

This extended wheelbase version of the Q6L e-tron will mark the debut of Audi’s PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture in China. The Q6L e-tron is expected to retain the standard Q6’s powerful electric drivetrain, featuring a 100kWh battery with a purported WLTP range of 625km and 387hp electric motors.

Built on the same PPE platform, the SQ6 e-tron brings a performance-oriented twist to the Q6 formula. This sporty variant boasts more powerful electric motors delivering 490hp and an estimated WLTP range of 580km from the same 100kWh battery pack (with a net usable capacity of 94.9kWh). Audi equips the SQ6 e-tron with sportier design elements and S badges to match its exhilarating performance.

This China-exclusive model was the first three-row electric SUV from Audi, built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform. Unlike the gasoline-powered Q5 sold in other markets, the Q5 e-tron utilizes a different platform. Currently offered in two variants – the Q5 40 e-tron with a single 204hp motor and the Q5 50 e-tron Quattro with a dual-motor setup producing 305hp, both powered by an 83.4kWh battery pack – the Q5 e-tron RS is expected to receive a significant power boost, potentially retaining the same battery capacity.

The arrival of the Q6L e-tron and SQ6 e-tron demonstrates the brand’s expansion of the PPE platform, while the Q5 e-tron RS caters to the growing demand for performance EVs in the Chinese market. Audi’s presence at Auto China promises exciting developments for electric car enthusiasts worldwide.
